We recently had a dinner party of about 12 people. We mentioned that we’d have good wine, but more drinks would be welcome. Turns out that fairly quickly all of the beer I happened to have in the fridge (Bear Republic Racer 5, Founders Centennial IPA, and one Lagunitas DayTime IPA) got finished by people, causing me and a couple of friends to run out for a few 6-packs since people were asking for more. We picked up more Racer 5, Harpoon Rich & Dan’s Rye IPA, and Sierra Nevada Celebration 2012 (along with two Torpedos to fill out the 6-pack). Almost all of that got finished. Only two out of the four bottles of wine got opened, plus some champagne.
Total win for a round of the beer vs. wine debate.
Very good article on the state of Goose Island one year after the sale, as well as InBev’s effect on the craft brewing industry in general.
