C and I went to some friends’ place for a beer tasting. A lot of very strong beer, too. I’ll try and remember the order, since it all got kind of hazy, but I do remember winning at Scrabble.
First up was the Hopus Ale, which I’ve reported before. Love it. Next up was the Rogue Mogul Madness Ale. Very good winter beer. Then I believe was the Port Townsend Strait Stout, which was a very nice stout. This must have been the lowest in alcohol of all the beers, at 5.8%. After this I think was the pièce de résistance, the Alaskan Smoked Porter. Wow this was pretty insane. I’ve never had anything like it. Really good with aged gouda cheese, which was one of the things we were eating. After this was the Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale, which was pretty nice, but not as nice as the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale, which is still my favorite of the pumpkin ales. Then was the Sixpoint Grand Crüe, which will really cut through anything. Everyone loved that one. After this it got kind of hazy, but the rest were all great beers. Smuttynose Gravitation, Avery Maharaja, and more of the Alaskan Smoked Porter.
I don’t think anyone felt great the next day, but damn was it worth it for all those great beers.
