Dogfish Dash

On Sept. 26, I ran The Dogfish Dash 10k race. I love Dogfish Head and was really excited to run a race that started and ended right at the brewery in Milton, DE.

Number pickup was the day before, at the Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, their brewpub in Rehoboth Beach, DE. After getting the number, we had dinner there. I finally tried their brewpub exclusive DHF Ale, which they describe as, “The body of 60 Minute IPA, the alcohol of 90 Minute IPA, and the hops of 120 Minute IPA.” It was delicious, but quite strong at 9.5%.

I ran the race well, coming in 10th in my age group and 20th overall out of 535. The post-race party, right past the finish line, was free for race participants and $10 for all others, a total bargain since besides the food, there were three Dogfish Head beers on tap. 60 Minute IPA, Punkin Ale, and Lawnmower. They started serving beer at 9am; race was at 8am. Great time and a great cause, benefitting the Delaware Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
